Music / CD Editing and Mixing
Mixdown is a term that encompasses several steps in the “post production” phase (music mixing and editing). While not all of these services are required for every recording, you can rest assured that The Reveler excels in each area.
Editing
Through digital editing and a process called 'Comping', The Reveler ensures your ideal performance is showcased in the final mix. The Reveler uses the most advanced music editing software available to achieve perfect results.
'Comping'
Ideally we'd all play it and sing it perfect the first time... unfortunately, this usually isn't the case. As a result, multiple vocal/instrumental "takes" are recorded during the tracking process. During the editing process these "takes" are evaluated and 'comped' together. 'Comping' is a process wherein all of the best riffs/phrases are cut, pasted and cross-faded together to form that perfect "take"!
Clean-Up
During digital editing individual instrument and vocal tracks are inspected for any unwanted noise (instrument buzz, drum bleed, misc. room noise, etc.). All unwanted audio is deleted from the recording, affording each song a new level of clarity.
Programming
During the programming process additional instrumentation is added to the mix via samplers, synthesizers, and drum machines. For many productions programming is unwarranted, but in certain instances proper programming can take a production to an entirely new level!
Mixing
As an intricate balancing act, an exercise in highlighting an artist's strengths and the final creative outlet in the record-making process, mixing is the crucial step in defining your album/demo as a true professional production. Through the fundamental and creative use of techniques such as equalization, compression, delay, modulation, reverberation, panning and automation, The Reveler will forge together the individual instrument and vocal tracks to form a cohesive and dynamic stereo track!
