Recording hip-hop tracks requires a unique skill set that is different from recording rock music. The Reveler offers a way for local and emerging hip-hop artists to make the most of these differences, to produce recordings with a sound that is unique to each artist.
BEATS/ BACKTRACKS
Clients may provide their own beats/backtracks or choose material from The Reveler's extensive library of hip-hop beats and backtracks.* Artists providing their own beats/backtracks have the option of further developing the material with The Reveler. Additionally, artists may co-produce brand new beats/backtracks with The Reveler. Beat development and production may include programming, sampling, synth and instrumental recording, the use of session musicians and vocalists, etc.
VOCAL RECORDING
Professional vocal recording relies heavily on microphone choice and recording technique, The Reveler will carefully discern and apply both in order to capture and highlight the individual strengths of each vocalist. In addition, The Reveler will shape the vocal recording environment to best suit the individual, as studio performance is largely dependent upon comfort level. The Reveler will record multiple vocal 'takes' for doubling and 'comping' (see Mixdown) to ensure the vocalist's absolute best performance reaches the final mix.
